is an association of culture interests. The association was set up in 2006 with the aim of preserving the old engineering workshop ” Arboga Mekaniska Verkstad”.
Göran Staxäng (organist at the Holy Trinity Church of Arboga) staged a first musical performance when the choir Cantemus from Stockholm and the Arboga choir Chorum Cantorum together with a chamber orchestra and the actor Jan Malmsjö gave ” Förklädd Gud” the great poem by Hj. Gullberg sat to music by L-E Larsson. The tremendous acoustic properties of the workshop gave an evening of perfect beauty. At this time the association of Mekens vänner was established to make the best of the old workshop.
In the autumn of the same year Eddie Oliva gave a performance in the workshop.
In 2007 the Kiew Choir sang in the workshop. Its members grow quite poetical when they after the performance called attention to the buildings excellent acoustics.
In 2008 Cantemus returned together with artists Sven Bertil Taube, Mikael Ramel and Lotta Ramel.
Two musical comedies ”Bella Notte” and ” På middag hos greveparet Gyllenclou ”, ended all performences in the workshop.
Difficulties concerning building permits, our chances to use the workshop etc made us change our aim. Richard Brixel gave us the new direction, engaging us in fine arts, all over the region.
Let us work together for our new goals to become a success!
